About This Course
Draping for Fashion Design is a fundamental draping course for undergraduate major in apparel. This course should enable students with basic apparel technology to understand the method and process of draping in apparel design.
The Course should enable the students to establish fundamental knowledge, basic methods and technique of draping; to understand the basic draping procedures and its application to current fashion trends; to develop a sample garment incorporating selection of fabric, draping, construction and finishing, employing industrial sample room procedures.
Course Staff
Xiaofen Ji is an excellent teacher of Zhejiang Province High Talents Special Support Plan (Ten thousand plan), and is also a second-level personnel of Zhejiang Province's "151 Talent Project", and has also won the honor of Zhejiang Province's "Three-wide Education" advanced individual. In addition, Professor Ji is a member of the Design Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Light Industry Textile and Food Education Commission, and a director of the Global Textile and Apparel Technology Foundation (IFFTI). Prior to that, Professor Ji has also visited many schools in the United States and Switzerland as a visiting scholar, including Fashion Institute of Technology at State University of New York, HEC Lausanne in Switzerland, the School of Fiber Science and Apparel Design at Cornell University, and the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. Professor Ji has won the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the first and second prize of Zhejiang Teaching Achievement Award, the first prize of Teaching Achievement Award of Textile Industry Association, and more than 20 other honors. She presided over the national bilingual demonstration course, the national brand course taught in English and the provincial quality course construction, and published three "Eleventh Five-Year" National Planned Textbook and provincial key textbooks. Professor Ji has devoted herself to the teaching and scientific research of the apparel industry for many years, presided over more than 100 scientific research projects at all levels, won the science and technology progress award at the level of province and department twice, has 5 own intellectual property rights, published more than 70 papers, and 5 papers Awarded, including more than 30 papers for three major retrievals, and three monographs/translations published. Professor Ji’s main research directions include apparel modeling design and fashion consumption behavior, digitalization of apparel production processes and risk assessment, underwear design and clothing history and culture. Professor Ji is committed to the education combined with production and research as well as the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the apparel industry. She served as the director of a number of school-enterprise joint R&D centers, the leader of the Zhejiang Fashion Industry Intelligent Manufacturing Standards Working Group, the dean of Zhejiang Sci-tech University - Excellent Fashion Garment (Hangzhou) cooperate Fashion Industry Research Institute, and the dean of Zhejiang Sci-tech University International Fashion Industry Research Institute. And Professor Ji has served as the leader for three times in the International Fashion Brand Cultural Development Forumm and International Forum on Sino-French Fashion Covenant.
Liling Cai, female, as a full-time teacher, works in the School of International Education, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Doctor of Management, associate professor, master tutor, and visited North Carolina State University as a visiting scholar. She has long been committed to teaching and academic research in the fields of apparel business operation, brand management and innovation management. She has been funded by many scientific research projects such as the Zhejiang Natural Fund, the Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Project, and the Hangzhou City Philosophy Planning Project. She has participated in the research of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Humanities and Social Sciences Project of the Ministry of Education, and is also responsible for a number of corporate commissions Project research work. So far, she has published more than 20 academic papers.
Chen Minzhi, female, Ph. D, associate Professor, master’s supervisor, is born in July 1978. She graduated from Fashion Design and Engineering Department of Zhejiang Institute of Silk Textiles in 2000. She has been teaching in the Fashion College of Zhejiang Sci & Tech University so far. In 2005, she received a master’s degree in fashion design and engineering from Zhejiang Sci & Tech University. In 2012, she received a doctor’s degree in fashion design and engineering from Donghua University, and was a visiting scholar in Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York from January 2011 to July 2013. She has been engaged in the theoretical and applied research in the field of garment production technology and apparel digitalization. She has participated as the leader or a main member in many research projects, funded by the Zhejiang Natural Science Foundation, Zhejiang Education Department, fashion companies, and so on. Nearly 30 academic papers have been published in core journals or professional academic conferences at home and abroad. And she obtained a number of patent licenses. She has been engaged in front-line teaching for a long time and accumulated rich practical experience. In recent years, she has guided students to win many national and provincial discipline innovation projects and awards.
Xubo Dong, She graduated from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University in 1999 and worked in pattern development department for four years in the local fashion company after graduation. After that, she became a merchandiser for an In&Exp company. In 2011, she studied patternmaking and draping at New York Institute of fashion technology. At present, she is a lecturer in the University of Zhejiang Sci-Tech, focusing on sewing technique、draping and patterning making.
Diqing Qian
Overseas Chinese, Zhejiang province high-level returned talents, master degree, graduated from fashion design department of Japanese Bunka Fashion Graduate University, served as a chief pattern-maker and designer in Nippon Uniform Center (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) for 7 years, obtained the Japanese plat pattern-making technology level 1 certification, currently work as a lecturer in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.
Han Fu
Master of Fashion Creation, graduated from Bunka Fashion Graduate University. Works in the School of International Education, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Clothing works have been exhibited in JFW JAPAN CREATION 2020, and entered the 94th Soen Fashion Awards.
