About This Course
In today's interconnected world, people from various cultures and backgrounds frequently interact with each other. Understanding different cultures helps in effective communication, collaboration, and building relationships across borders.
Chinese culture and Eastern cultures can be very different with distinctive values, norms, customs and even communication styles. Focused on Myths (the origin of the world, Aesthetics (Appreciation of the beauty), Literature (One way to explore human nature), Food (You are what you eat), this course promotes empathy, respect, and tolerance, reducing the likelihood of miscommunication and conflict.
From various perspectives, Chinese culture and Eastern cultures are compared and appreciated in this course. Exercises are given to related subject to develop skills such as adaptability, open-mindedness, and flexibility when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Overall, this course equips individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a multicultural world, promoting understanding, cooperation, and harmony among people of different backgrounds.
Requirements
Students were required to study on their own the online units covering mythology, aesthetics, literature and food. In-class time was designed for group-discussion, speech, debate and Q&A to deepen the understanding of the online materials and creativity was greatly encouraged.
