About This Course

Pediatrics is one of the branches of clinical medicine. The outcome of this course is to enable students to master the principles of children's growth and development, the preventive and health care methods, the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria, treatment principles of common or emergent diseases in childhood.

Many different conditions can affect every organ system and may vary with the age of the child. It is impossible to include them all in this course.Our team have covered some of the common pediatric conditions seen in China.

The trainee will receive professional training in case based lecture, online homework, discussion and online self-assessment. At the end of this pediatric course, the trainee should be able to

1. Distinguish the difference between children and adults, make the clinical reasoning referring to patients age group.

2. Analyze and list the causes of common pediatric diseases.

3. Explain the pathogenesis of common pediatric diseases.

4. Make diagnosis and differential diagnosis according to the typical manifestations of common pediatric diseases.

5. Make diagnostic reasoning and treatment plans for common pediatric diseases in accordance with the primary impressions.

6. Educate the family or the neighborhood the health knowledge and disease prevention in following clinical practicing.

Requirements

 The learners should have an intermediate level of basic medicine.

PhD/Chief pediatrician, project director, experienced All-English-Class teacher in SUMC,is responsible for the design and development of curriculum framework and syllabus writing. She is the key investigator of several provincial research projects and has published widely on pediatric research.
