About This Course

This course introduces the origin, connotation and characteristics of ecological environmental protection and sustainable development, the relationship between environmental protection and social development, the importance and implementation methods of pollution control, energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental management and quality assessement, and the implementation path of ecological civilization construction and sustainable development of socialism with chinese characteritics. From different angles and combined with case analysis, to make students realize the importance of ecological civilization and the sustainable development, understand the concept and implementing paths of socialist ecological civilization, raise their ecological awareness of the need to respect, accommodate to and protect nature, and set up scientific ecological view and development view. To train high-quality talents with ecological civilization thought and sustainable development concept.

Staff Member #1 Dr. Junkang Guo

Junkang Guo, PhD of Tianjin University, tutor of doctoral degree candidates, the team leader of Soil pollution remediation Team of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology. He is in charge of two Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), participate in 16 national research projects such as National key research and development plans. He has published 18 papers on well recognized international journals. In addition, he has 3 authorized national invention patent of China, with the other 3 in process. he had also won science and technology progress prize of Tianjin City of China. He is the National natural science fund peer reviewer of China; He was elected to the committee of China agricultural society agricultural environmental damage appraisal assessment. In 2016, He was selected as “Hundred-Talent youth Program” (shaanxi province government of China) .

Staff Member #2 Dr. Ting Wei

Ting Wei, Ph.D., tutor of master degree candidates. She is in charge of one Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), participates in 3 national research projects. She has published 10 papers on well-recognized international journals. Dr. Wei has been working in the Department of Environmental Science, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, since September 2016. Dr.Wei is mainly engaged in the research on environmental risk assessment, heavy metal pollution remediation and environmental toxicology.

Staff Member #3 Dr. Chao Zhu

Zhu Chao, Ph.D., associate professor, postgraduate tutor, director of the Department of Environmental Biology. As expert of cleaner production and atmospheric performance rating of enterprise in Shaanxi Province, China, mainly engaged in research and development of industrial pollution control technology and equipment, environmental ecological risk assessment of pollutants and environmental biotechnology, in charge of 10 scientific research projects at the provincial and national level, and participated in 1 sub-project of the National Water Pollution Control Major Project as the backbone. Published two monographs, "Innovative Practice of Environmental Science and Engineering" and "Introduction to Environmental Protection and Environmental Management", published a total of more than 40 papers in Chemical Engineering Journal, Separation and Purification Technology, Ecotoxicity Environmental Safety, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering and other well-known domestic and foreign academic journals. It has applied for 11 national invention patents, 3 have been authorized, and 1 has been transformed. Presided over 5 teaching reform projects, 3 construction projects of on-line open courses, and published 8 teaching reform papers; won 2 school-level undergraduate teaching quality awards. Instructed students to join the "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and won 1 gold, 1silver and 1bronze awards in Shaanxi Province, China. In 2020, he was awarded the outstanding teacher of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.

Staff Member #4  Dr. Yuqin Wang

Yuqin Wang, Ph.D., associate professor, master supervisor, has been working in the Department of Environmental Engineering, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, since September 2017. Dr.Wang is mainly engaged in the research on the effects of ambient pollutants on human health and environmental quality assessment. Dr.Wang was in charge of lecturing Chapter 3 (Pollution control, energy conservation and emission reduction) and Chapter 5 (Environmental management and quality assessment).

Staff Member #5 Dr. Muhammad Haris

Muhammad Haris received his B.Sc. (2014) and M.Sc(2016) degree’s from University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan and Ph.D. from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Guo Junkang. Now he is a postdoctoral research associate at school of environmental science and engineering, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology. His current research mainly focuses on the synthesis of carbon nanosheets from agricultural wastes for remediation of heavy metals contaminated matrices. More than 14 SCI papers and one book chapter have been published in well reputed environmental journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Chemosphere, Journal of Environmental management etc.
