About This Course
In this course, you will fully appreciate traditional Chinese ceramic arts and learn about traditional Chinese culture at the same time. Our course covers a long history of Chinese ceramics development, starting from the Shang Dynasty to the modern times. The course includes the following chapters: a brief history of Chinese ceramics, earthenware sculptures of Qin and Han dynasties, tri-color glazed potteries of Tang Dynasty, major kilns of Song Dynasty, blue and white porcelains of Yuan Dynasty, porcelain production procedures of raw materials processing, hand forming and firing, Doucai, Wucai and Gucai, Fencai, Xincai, Color glaze porcelain, ceramic sculpture, and Zisha teapot, which are concisely and elegantly presented in 20 episodes.
Chinese ceramic arts are a vivid imagery expression of Chinese cultures.Every kind of ceramics is characteristic of its era when they were created. Therefore, you will gain an insight into values and cultural preferences of each Chinese dynasty.
We also demonstrate production processes of some major ceramic handicrafts, such as blue and white, Gucai and Zisha teapot. In particular, we display the complete process of porcelain body production. You will see how raw materials like china stones and clay are transformed into porcelain in Jingdezhen, a beautiful and serene city in southern China, and the world-famous porcelain capital.
All the creation procedures are displayed by skilled craftsman.The spirits of seriousness in fine arts are fully demonstrated in the procedures.While for porcelain painting, you would observe unrestrained style of traditional Chinese painting,which is also called literati painting.
