About This Course

This is a fully open, public, online elective course designed to include theoretical study, illustration techniques and creative practice. The theoretical session is mainly a video course, through the systematic study of the definition, classification, methodological steps, means of expression and techniques of illustration design, students will be able to comprehensively grasp the role, interrelationship and basis of the creation and realization of the various elements of illustration design; in this session, there will be a large number of visual pictures to read, linking theory and intuitive visual art, allowing students to recognize the world of illustration in the process of reading pictures, reducing the boring learning of science, improving students' interest in interdisciplinary learning and enhancing students' aesthetic ability.

Chen Lan professor

In 2003, he graduated from the Bellinger Institute of Graphic Design in Paris, France, with a master's degree. Since 2004, he has been teaching at East China Normal University. With 18 years of teaching experience in colleges and universities, he has always adhered to a serious, rigorous and hard-working attitude from the heart, and has achieved outstanding results in both teaching and scientific research. The eight courses taught in 2017 were excellent in six courses in the whole course evaluation system of the School of Design and won awards from the school. He has won the Teaching Contribution Award in the year-end assessment of the college for many consecutive years. In 2015, he won the first prize (collective) of the 7th East China Normal University Teaching Achievement Award. In 2014, he won the first prize (team) of Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award. In 2010, he was awarded the Shenyin Wanguo Scholarship by the Shanghai Education Development Foundation. In recent years, with the support of the discipline construction of schools and colleges, I have invested a lot of time and energy to build and improve the practical teaching of illustration design courses. A series of achievements have been made in curriculum construction and teaching achievements, which have been well received by schools and the industry. In 2017, the "Illustration Design" course was awarded the Shanghai Excellent Course. In 2016, the "Illustration Design" course was included in the construction of the famous teacher's course of the college. In 2017, the course "Illustration Design" won the teaching reform and research project of East China Normal University. In 2016, the course "Illustration Design" won the flipped classroom experimental project of East China Normal University, and was awarded excellent at the end of the subject. In 2013, the "Illustration Design" course was a key course construction project in Shanghai, and it was awarded excellent when it was completed in 2016. "Illustration Design Technique Tutorial" won the 2015 East China Normal University Publishing Fund. In 2016, the course "Illustration Design" won the online course construction project of East China Normal University Daxia School. Participated in several major projects: the design of the wayfinding system for the World Expo Museum in 2010; the design of the wayfinding system for the Urban Footprint Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo; the design of the wayfinding system for the Shanghai Yangtze River Estuary Science and Technology Museum in 2011; the derivative design of the Urban Footprint Pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, More than 20 products were launched; more than 10 products were put on the market in the product design of the China National Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo. In 2017, he presided over the Lei Yunshang vision system transformation project; in 2017, he was in charge of the Shanghai Zoo vision system transformation project. Published several monographs: "Illustration World", "Illustration Family", "Poster World"; published textbook "Illustration Design Technique Tutorial".

Hong Bo Lecture

Graduated from China Textile University (now Donghua University) majoring in visual communication in 1998, now lives and lives in Shanghai, taught at the School of Design, East China Normal University in 2011 and has been working since then. The main courses taught are: painting, human sketching, form and variation, Courses on Space Form, etc. Won the Gold Award of the 7th China International Interior Design Biennale. The micro-movie "Transmutation" won the first national employee micro-film competition sponsored by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and won the "Best Documentary Production Award" - Bronze Award.
The micro-film "Transmutation" won the "Best Visual Award" of the 2nd "National Staff Culture Construction Micro-film Tour".
The micro-movie "Transmutation" won the "First Prize" in the publicity theme unit of the 2nd "National Staff Culture Construction Micro-film Tour Exhibition".

Rao Kaixi teaching assistant

Kathy Rao lives and works in Shanghai. He is currently a professional teacher in the Basic Department of the School of Design, East China Normal University, and studied at the Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London, majoring in fine art. Most of his personal creations focus on the existence of individuals in the social environment.
