About This Course

Geriatrics of TCM was approved as an excellent online open course of Sichuan Province in 2019. Most students in school studying it are majored in TCM or eight-year TCM. As an examination course with 36 hours, the course is divided into general and individual monographs. A total of eight chapters are used in general theories to systematically elaborate the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills of TCM in the prevention and treatment of senile disease. Besides, the mechanism, manifestation and comprehensive evaluation of senile disease are included in the eight chapters. Moreover, not only illustration and evaluation, but diagnosis and treatments from Chinese and Western medicine perspectives are demonstrated in general theories. The individual monographs are divided into nine chapters, illustrating 40 common diseases of the elderly, each of which is described by the corresponding name in modern medicine. Overview, pathology mechanism of western medicine, etiology and pathogenesis of TCM, the key diagnosis, treatment based on syndrome differentiation, western medicine treatment, comprehensive treatments, keys in clinic, prevention and care, famous medical cases and other parts are included in the nine chapters.

Course Staff

Fei Wang 

Professor Fei Wang has been engaged in clinic practice, teaching and scientific research for more than 30 years. He has successively served as deputy director of Internal Medicine in Hospital of Chengdu University of TCM, director of teaching and research office of internal medicine, deputy dean of College of Preclinical Medicine, and Dean of Academic Affairs of Chengdu University of TCM. Now he is entitled Expert With Outstanding Contributions To Sichuan Province, Academic & Technology Leader in Sichuan Province, and Academic Leader of “the 12th Five-Year plan” Key Discipline of TCM geriatrics in National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He also serves as deputy chairman of Geriatrics Branch in the China Association of TCM, deputy chairman of the Special Committee for Geriatric Medicine of the Sichuan and the Special Committee of Chinese Internal Medicine. 
Since 1995, he has been teaching "Internal Medicine of TCM" for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. He has served as a doctoral advisor for 10 years, with over 40 masters and over 10 doctors graduated, and 1 postdoctoral fellow has finished research under his guidance. More than 20 graduate and more than 10 doctoral students are currently under his advisory. 
In 2017, he was entitled the chief editor of the "13th Five-Year Plan" textbook for TCM higher education of "Traditional Chinese Gerontology". In September 2017, he started the course of "gerontology of TCM" in the “Li Sichi class” and the targeted class of TCM in Chengdu university of TCM, and introduced the teaching reforms such as case-based teaching, Massive Open Online Courses(MOOC) and comprehensive subjects teaching, for which he won the first prize of teaching achievement of Sichuan province in 2018. The MOOC of gerontology of TCM was also launched in 2017, and successfully publicized in that December. Currently, the second teaching course of gerontology of TCM has been completed, with a total of 7,687 participants for the two courses. 
Professor Wang directed the major innovation of some Chinese medicine, like WUZHIDIWAN (Wuzhi dropping pills), GANDUQING, etc. He has 3 national invention patents and published more than 100 papers. What’s more, Professor Wang was editor-in-chief or deputy editor-in-chief of 14 textbooks and auxiliary teaching materials. He was also the Primary investigator of over 20 grants of National Natural Science Foundation and other provincial research programs, and has won 3 second and 3 third Provincial Prizes for Progress in Science and Technology.

WenBing Wu 

M.D., postdoctor, professor, is the deputy chief physician of TCM (Traditional Chinese medicine) and master advisor. He is the reserve candidate for the leader of the Geriatrics of TCM of the 12th Five-Year Key Discipline of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; He is also a member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary-General of the Geriatrics Branch of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a member of the Internal Medicine Branch, a member of the Standing Committee of the Internal Medicine Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a director of the Brain Disease Branch of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine, and a deputy director of the Geriatric Medicine Special Committee of the Sichuan Chinese Medicine Association. Director of Sichuan Geriatrics Association. Hosted 10 provincial-level scientific research projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc .; won 1 first prize of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 third prize of Guangyuan Science and Technology Progress Award, and 1 teaching achievement of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1 prize. He has published more than 30 academic papers as the first or corresponding author, and has participated in editing more than 10 textbooks and teaching aids such as "TCM Gerontology". Trained 5 graduate students, assisted in training more than 10 graduate students, and 3 PhD students. Since 2010, the system has undertaken classroom teaching work such as "Chinese Medicine Gerontology", "Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine" and "Chinese Medicine Internal Medicine Training".

Bo Peng

doctor, associate chief physician,graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, heir to the famous senior Chinese medicine practitioners (sixth batch), member of the Chinese Medicine Research Promotion Association of Chinese Medicine General Practice and Health Branch, Sichuan Province Chinese Medicine Society of Pulmonary Diseases Member of the Special Committee, member of the Special Committee of Geriatrics of Sichuan Provincial Chinese Medicine Society. Teacher Yang Renxu, a state-level and well-known Chinese medicine doctor, has been engaged in medical, teaching and scientific research in internal medicine of Chinese medicine after graduating from school in 2006, and strives to achieve the "trinity of medicine, teaching and research" for comprehensive development. In the teaching work, he has been serving as the main lecturer of the core clinical course of Chinese medicine "Chinese medicine internal medicine".  Yi Zhang

Jinhao Zeng

Jinhao Zeng, male, medical doctor, lecturer / attending physician.
