About This Course

1. Understand the basic characteristics of the various calligraphic styles of seal script, clerical script, regular script, running script, and cursive script, and be able to clearly distinguish between several calligraphic styles.

2. Be able to summarize the characteristics of Chinese calligraphy in each dynasty and list the famous calligraphers of each dynasty and their representative works.

3. Grasp the basic structure of the history of Chinese calligraphy and the lineage of its development.

4. Understand the different properties of writing instruments such as brushes, ink, paper, and ink stone and their applicable calligraphic styles.

 

Course Staff

Shen Hao, Vice President of the China Academy of Art, member of the Academic Committee, professor, and Doctoral Candidate Tutor. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Calligraphers Association, Director of the Xiling Yin Society, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Calligraphy Education Research Association, Member of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Association.

Shen Leping, Vice President of the School of Chinese Painting and Calligraphic Art of the China Academy of Art, Director of the Department of Calligraphy, Professor and Doctoral Candidate Tutor. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, member of the Xiling Yin Society, director of the Zhejiang Calligraphers Association, chairman of the Zhejiang Young Calligraphers Association,and visiting professor at Gifu Women's University in Japan.

Cao Jinyan, Director of the Bronzeware Specialist Committee of the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics, Director of the Institute of Chinese Character Culture and Professor of the Department of Calligraphy, China Academy of Art,and Doctoral Candidate Tutor.
