Zhang Laixiang

Zhang Laixiang, Associate Professor in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology. She teaches Academic English Writing, English Lexicology, Inside Chinese Culture.

Zhang Yuan, Lecturer  in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology.

Liu Fang, Professor  in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology. She teaches English for Academic purpose.

Zhang Chenhua, Lecturer in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology. She teaches English for Academic purpose. She was a visiting scholar in California State University.

Chen Gang, Lecturer  in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology.  She teaches English for sports students and some optional courses.

Wang Lang, Assistant Professor in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology. She was  also a postdoc fellow at Boston College. 

 

Course overview

    As a country steeped in 5000-year history, China and its culture never fail to be loved and appreciated by Chinese and foreigners alike. As China integrates itself more with the international community, there is an increasing need for China to have more extensive dialogue with the world so that the world understands China better.

   This course will help you develop a more contextualized and systematic understanding of Chinese culture and improve your cultural literacy. You will be acquainted with key vocabularies and expressions of Chinese culture; you will learn how to convey the depth and breadth of the essence of Chinese culture to the outside world; you will be inspired to think about the cultural phenomena in various fields in China; you will be provided with vivid and representative illustrations of Chinese culture; and you will also be guided through cultural differences and similarities between Chinese culture and the culture of the west.

      By joining the course, you will be able to confidently and articulately present the fabrics of Chinese culture, which makes a whole picture of real China to the world.
