About This Course
Advanced engineering thermodynamics and heat transfer is a science especially to discuss the thermal energy effectively utilized and energy conservation laws. It will tell students that the energy can be transferred by interactions of a system with its surroundings. These interactions are called work and heat. At the same time, it will investigate that the nature of the interaction or the time rate at which it occurs. The objective of this text is to extend fundamental thermodynamic theory and analysis method as well as to calculate heat transfer rates through study of the modes of heat transfer and through development of relations. It is hoped that this course will provide engineering students with information and background that will enable them to become proficient at establishing thermodynamic model and calculating thermodynamic cycle efficiency and heat transfer rate. It also will provide engineering students with new analytical methods in learning thermal processes. Let the students know the basic principle and main method to improve energy application efficiency and enhance heat transfer.
Requirements
You need to study beforehand of advanced mathematics, university physics, basic thermodynamics and heat transfer. You must listen to all the chapters of the video and complete 70% of the homework questions. Finally, you need to complete the content of the test paper within the specified time.
Course Staff
Dr. Hongfei Zheng:
Professor of Beijing Institute of Technology. He has taught Thermodynamics, Solar energy, Advanced Thermodynamics and Heat transfer for 20 years. He won prominent teacher prize of Beijing Institute of Technology in 2018.
Prof. Zheng has published more than 250 refereed papers (more than 80papers was published in international Journals) and 7 monographs (one is international monograph published by Elsevier Press group) and two textbooks. He has obtained 40 patents. He worked in Nottingham University in UK as a visiting professor from 2012.3~2013.9. During this period, he completed the European Commission for a Marie Curie Fellowship grant. He worked in Demark Technology of University (DTU) in Denmark as a visiting professor from 2015.1~2015.4. He also worked in California University in Merced in USA as a visiting professor from 2017.1~2017.8. He worked in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia as a visiting professor in 2023.3~2023.4.
He is the principal investigator for 7 important research projects respectively funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and National “863” Hi-Tech Development Program of China. He completed several international cooperation projects with UK and Denmark. He has won two provincial science and technology progress first prize and four provincial science and technology progress second prize.
He is a fellow of the World Renewable Energy Society, distinguished expert of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Solar Energy, and member of the Thermodynamics branch and two-phase flow Branch of the Engineering Thermophysics Society.
