The purpose of this course is to give new translators a grounding in translation theory that will greatly assist them during the translation process.

 

Learning Outcome

participant are expected to be able to understand translation theory and apply it to solve problems in translating text. Some topics will be given as follow:

  • (1) problems of translation

  • (2) equivalence in translation

  • (3) pre- and post-translation,

  • (4) translation method

  • (5) translation strategy

  • (6)) translation of figurative language

  • (7) evaluation of translation

  • (8) annotation of translation

She works as a lecturer of English Literature Study Program at Universitas Terbuka-Indonesia Open University (UT). Graduated from the University of Indonesia (UI) in the field of applied linguistics. Currently, she teaches several courses related to English and translation. In addition, she conducts research in the field of translation and research related to the Distance Education and E-Learning Program at UT. Several research results in the Education Sector have been published in accredited national journals and international journals.
