Course Description
This course explores the phenomenon of workplace bullying from a psychosocial, organizational, and legal perspective. Participants will study the definitions, forms, and risk factors of bullying in the workplace; analyze its psychological and organizational impacts; and learn how to apply evidence-based measurement tools such as the Negative Acts Questionnaire (NAQ-R) and the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ). The course also introduces relevant intervention strategies and prevention frameworks. The language of instruction is English, and the course is delivered entirely online using the OpenEdX platform. Learning materials include short lecture videos, structured readings, weekly quizzes, and a final assessment. The course adopts a fully self-paced model
Learning Objectives
In this course, Workplace Bullying: Concepts, Impacts, and Measurement Tools, participants are expected to be able to:
1. Explain the definitions and forms of workplace bullying from psychosocial and labor law perspectives.
2. Analyze the impacts of bullying on individuals, organizations, and workplace productivity.
3. Identify relevant and evidence-based tools and techniques for assessing workplace bullying.
4. Interpret the results of bullying assessments and propose mitigation strategies based on workplace policies.

1. Undergraduate and master's students from public health, psychology, law, and human resource management
programs (priority given to non-UI students)
2. OHS practitioners, HR professionals, and line managers across various industrial sectors
3. General public with an interest in workplace mental health and well-being issues

Course Instructor

Abdul Kadir is a lecturer and researcher in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at Universitas Indonesia. He earned his Bachelor of Public Health in OHS from Universitas Indonesia with cum laude honors, and completed his Master of Science in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety at the University of Galway, Ireland graduating with First Class Honors.
His academic and research expertise includes Ergonomics, Occupational Health, Psychosocial Risk Assessment, and particularly Workplace Bullying. He has led and contributed to various research projects on workplace safety, psychosocial health, disaster preparedness, and ergonomics risk in high-risk industries.
Abdul has authored peer-reviewed publications in international journals such as Frontiers in Public Health, Sustainability, and IJERPH, including studies on bullying measurement tools like the Indonesian version of the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised (NAQ-R).
In his teaching, he combines scientific rigor with real-world applications, encouraging students and professionals to critically engage with emerging workplace issues, particularly the often-invisible problem of workplace bullying.
