Course Introduction

The primary goal of Basic Econometrics for Economics and Business is to provide a basic  comprehensive introduction to econometrics without relying on matrix algebra, calculus, or statistics beyond a basic level.  Regression analysis has developed very rapidly and is able to solve research problems in various fields. However, there are still many studies in Indonesia that require complete and comprehensive guidelines for econometric methods and analysis. The presence of the Basic Econometric Analysis book will add to and complete the national book treasury in addition to existing imported books with more up-to-date and current information and delivery methods. Students must have STATA, Eviews and Excel application support.  Asynchronous and self-directed learning mode.

Undergraduate degree

Requirement : math and statistics, prequisite course, need internet access, computer application Excel, Eviews or STATA. Basic English reading is a requirement.

This English-langage MMOCs will be run in Self-Pace mode. The methods is Asynchronous though this MOOCs.

The course starts on December 1, 2024 and ends on November 1, 2026. The estimated time to complete this module is 4 Section or 4 weeks, with an estimated duration per session inaverage of 4 hour / week.

However participans can complete the course aearlier than the schedule if he /she can meet all the requirement of the materials earlier.

In each learning session, you will access to a variety of materials including text and video to enhance your learning experience. Participants don’t forget to finish the quizzes to make sure you are truly mastering the courses. I hope participant can enjoy and understand step by step this course. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the subject, participants are :

1. Able to understand the concept and basic understanding of Modern Econometrics

2. Able to understand the concept and basic understanding of Estimators, simple testing and how to do Regression Analysis.

3. Able to understand the concept and basic understanding of Problems in Classical Estimation and its Assumptions

4. Able to understand the concept and basic understanding of Analysis and Forecasting in the business world

The researcher is a Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia . He holds a Ph.D. and cum laude in economics from the University of Indonesia. His research areas are in International Trade, Monetary Economics, and Econometrician. His work has appeared in NOVA SCIENCE PUBLISHERS, INC, Asian Business Research Journal, International Review on Public and Nonprofit Marketing, International Journal of Economics and Management, Sustainability, Resources Policy, and Economies. He is the author of several books on data panel and time series econometrics. He also writes several books on international economics, investment management, and macroeconomics. 

The researcher is a very prolific book writer, more than 16 books have been published in various titles. Several book titles related to economics that have been made are International Economics, International Economics and Finance, Investment Management, International Financial Management. Several book titles related to econometrics are Mathematics for Economics, Basic Econometrics, Panel Data Econometrics, Time Series Econometrics, Econometrics for Finance.
