Course Description

Welcome to UI's MOOCs Proteomics [MOOC000297] with other students. In this module, you will learn the definition of proteomics, protein identification methods, bottom-up and top-down proteomics, and the presentation of proteomics data. After following this module, module participants are able to apply proteomics methods for protein analysis.

This is a non-credit module. However, the certificate of completion will be given to participants after completing the module. The estimated time to complete this module is 225 minutes. This module will be carried out in self-paced learning mode. The asynchronous method will be used in this module, which includes watching interactive videos, answering quizzes, chatting in the discussion forums, and reading materials.

After following this module, module participants are able to apply proteomics methods for protein analysis. The content of this module includes the definition of proteomics, protein identification methods, bottom-up and top-down proteomics, and presentation of proteomics data. The teaching method used is based on self-paced learning with the main methods of collaborative learning and asynchronous online-based learning. Module participants will study the material independently first (watching videos and reading material) ending with a formative quiz. Then, module participants will conduct asynchronous discussions in discussion forums discussing cases in collaborative learning. Finally, the module participants take a summative quiz. Answer keys and feedback are given asynchronously so that students can do self-reflection. The language used in teaching and learning activities is English.

Learning Outcome

After completing the proteomics module, if the module participant is given a specific sample, the module participant is able to apply the appropriate proteomics method (C3) for that sample.
