About This Course

Solid-state chemistry is a branch of chemistry that focuses on the study of solid materials, their composition, structure, properties, and reactions. It involves investigating the synthesis, characterization, and understanding of various types of solid compounds, including inorganic compounds, organic compounds, and hybrid materials. Key areas of study in solid-state chemistry include crystallography, which involves the determination of crystal structures using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, and the characterization of materials using methods such as spectroscopy, microscopy, and thermal analysis. Solid-state chemists also investigate the electronic, magnetic, optical, and mechanical properties of solids, and explore how these properties can be tuned or modified through doping, alloying, or other synthetic methods.
