About This Course
This course consists of two major parts. The first aims to establish the students' understanding of the field of World Englishes and their impact on the notion of transnational identities from the lens of globalization. This foundation leads to the students' critical examination toward World Englishes, and transnational identities in the context of Asia, especially in Indonesia. The second part widens the students' horizon in current scholarship of World Englishes by introducing posthumanist World Englishes. Two notions--assemblage and localities are particularly highlighted to extend the students' exploration of Word Englishes and transnational identities in the digital contexts.
